Dubは麻薬だ。中でもOn-U Sound製はヘロイン並に多幸感と中毒性が高い。"The Pop Group - 1st" のDub初体験は吸引程度だったが"Mark Stewart + Maffia - Learning To Cope With Cowardice" でOn-Uをドープして以来、彼是30年も常用なう。其れに比べると本盤はLee Perry翁なので効果は草レベルだが、Sun Ra亡き後の数少ない御年75歳の"狂人"が創る音楽は全て素晴らしい。中でもA3は名曲。ちなみに"Panic In Babylon (2003)”収録の「VooDoo」は生涯の名曲。

ジャケットには何処にも”The Slits”と表記は無いが、直ぐ其れと判るタイトルとイラスト。初期の彼女等はPunk Bandだったが、此の盤は中期〜後期のDub Style。正確な録音の年度は不明だが、彼女等のLive Recordingモノとしては音は良く（ただしA2に針飛び有り）、さらに演奏も安定しているという珍しい内容。おなじみの名曲B1も良い。

昨年、分裂解散した彼らの数少ない音源。2005年にリリースされたCDは、リマスターされ同時期のライヴが追加された必聴盤だ。その全てが異質でただ「彼らの音楽」としか形容できないのだが、特筆すべくはArto Lindsayよりも特異で才能溢れる、組原正。坂本龍一「B-2Unit」にも参加している彼は、正真正銘の日本が誇るギタリストの一人である。この時期DUB Mixの多くを手がけていた坂本によるB1も、坂本特有の解釈が興味深い。

名曲のA1。懐かしく印象的なリズムボックと甲高いJahの声に太いベースが覆い被さるイントロでK.O.。出来るだけ大きな音で聴く事が礼儀だ。中古業界で異常な高値が付いているのを見てアップした次第。

Thanks to "Conny Plank"は分かるがFactory Records創立者の一人"Tony Wilson"の名が意外であった。クレジットの「Ian Curtisに捧ぐ」に起因するのだろうか。なお本盤はIanが鬼籍に入った翌年のリリースであるが、今ではConnyもTonyも鬼籍に。本盤の三人にはオレよりも長生きして欲しいな。
