"In May 1997 Lo Recordings received a DAT tape containing 30 different one-minute guitar pieces by Thurston Moore. Each piece was copied onto individual tapes and packaged in custom designed vaccum cleaner bags. One hundred bags were sent out to a selection of visual artists and musicans, inviting them to create a brand new work utilising the original piece as a starting point.

This CD contains 25 of the musical contributions plus a selection of images from The Root Exhibition - Held at Chisenhale Gallery and organized by Lo Recordings in association with commercial too."

Notes: Numbered edition of 2000. CD and booklet packaged in a hoover bag, sealed in an outer protective cover.

Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth)による30のギタートラックを錚々たる面子がリミックス、リモデル、リシェイプしたコンピレーションアルバム。全て"The Root Exhibition"のため制作され、ミュージシャンのみならずビジュアルアーティスト制作の作品も展示された（ブックレットに一部収録）。

CDは通常盤と限定版（25曲）、アナログは12インチの5枚組（38曲）で、本盤はCD限定版。CDとブックレットが掃除機の交換用紙バッグに入っている。

集積され反復する音の断片は後に音塊となり、音楽となるも、後に静寂となり、記憶となる。Post punkの極北に彼らが挑んだ功績は多大だ。Brian EnoとRichard Jamesを繋いだWireの半分は彼らであり、Domeであり、Cupolその他であるのだが、Wireの夜明けが素人同然だった事を改めて鑑みると、オレは20年後の今も自分自身の可能性を否定出来ない。此の事がロックンロールの本質である事を稚拙な音楽人に大声で言っておこう。さらにはWireの残り半分の様に、ポピュラーミュージックとは不可分の関係である事も。

Wire初期3枚は別格だが、プログレを帯びてきた名盤3枚目"154"の初回に付属された7"EP。メンバー4人が各々プロデュースした実験的小品集。言っておくが"154"は此れも含めて一枚のアルバムである。Remaster CDには収録済みだがノイズの多いアナログで。

此の後バンドは解散、Bruce GilbertとGraham Lewisは自身のレーベルから"Dome"と4ADから"Cupol"をリリースする。

This record and the accompanying selected photographs are the result of a recording installation project which, once set into operation, provided an opportunity to utilize and experiment with various sound sources. "Instruments" and objects, constructed from diverse materials found in and around The Waterloo Gallery and Studios, were daily introduced throughout the three week period. A number of microphones were and record the environment and its resonance to the manipulated, incidental and accidental sounds from without and within the gallery.

Wireメンバー二人と、David SylvianやEno、NINのアルバムジャケットで知られる画家/グラフィックデザイナーのRussell Millsが"Waterloo Gallery"にて行ったサウンドインスタレーションをライヴ録音したもの。

Bruce GilbertとGraham Lewisは、ポップ志向だったColin Newmanに対し、"Dome"、"BC Gilbert & G Lewis"、"Cupol"等で実験的でミニマルなアヴァンギャルドな側面を"Wire"においても担っていた。1979リリースのWire 3rd Album"154"の初回付属の7"EPで最初の実験がリリースされるが、それはWireの有名な発言「ロックじゃなければ何でもいい」さながら、シンプルでポップなメロディーの断片をテープエフェクトとフィールドレコーディング（掃除機の音等）でミックスするというものだった。

静かに始まった此等のポップにおける彼らの革命的音楽実験は、非常に重要なポイントとして現在に至るが、所謂デジタル有りきの現在では到達出来ない側面を持つというヒントを持った作品である。
